Tanya here from TLC; I just wanted to drop you a line to check in and see how you are.

I don’t think that can ever have been a bigger question than it is now; HOW ARE YOU?

Maybe you don’t even know and are swinging between a myriad of feelings; That is ok and is to be expected. Across the globe people are gaining new details on the Covid 19 virus daily and are having to process information that seems to be coming from a movie script at the same time as juggling children at home, financial concerns and worries about loved ones.

These are not normal times so give yourself permission to feel how you feel.

If you can, try to name the emotion connected to the feeling and work out what, if anything, you can do to feel more in control whether that be switch off the news, disconnect from social media, journal, call a friend to check on them or get some fresh air and vitamin D.

As a coach, my aim is always to provide people with the time, space and connection to allow them to drive their own dreams and become the best version of them that they can. I know that at this moment, many of us are in survival mode and best self may seem some way away but, I believe that the universe has given us some time to breathe. It has created a crisis which is providing us with space to look deeper within ourselves and listen to what we really, truly need when all of the noise is removed; ‘the handbag stuff’ as my neighbour calls it!

We have all, always been more than the job we have, the stuff we buy, the places we eat, the cars that we drive, the armour we wear to protect ourselves. ALWAYS. And now is an unexpected opportunity to strip that all away and connect. It is humbling to see so many people doing small acts of kindness daily to connect with others at a time of uncertainty. My hope is that following this period we will remain connected; to our inner selves, to our loved ones and to the communities we are a part of.

I have found it hard to post on social media recently despite knowing that as self employed small business owner I need to engage with my followers. I was finding it hard because I didn’t want to say out loud I was experiencing JOY when so many others are facing such challenges.

Don’t get me wrong; I have been scared and sad and anxious and these emotions still come. My income has vanished over night and I don’t know when it will come back. I just have to trust that it will and I do. I am already seeing people commenting about having time to think for the first time in years. The humanitarian emergency is forcing people to face feelings and truths they have hidden behind habits that have suddenly and unexpectedly been removed. Life can never be the same again. I believe it can be better.

With a lack of routine and with a shifting idea of what ‘normal’ is, it is challenging to stay on top. Don’t beat yourself up if you have a down day but do be present- if you begin to notice you are in panic mode or beginning to wallow in negative thoughts on topics outside of your control, DISTRACT YOURSELF. It is OK not to be up to the minute on the news- that is self care and it is essential.

I want to remind you of how capable you are. 

Think back to the hardest time in your life; you came through it, you learnt from it and you are still here. Stronger and Wiser.

You have all of the tools within you to emerge from this crazy period stronger and wiser again, more certain of yourself and your direction of travel.

One thing that is certainly true is that, although we are all in this together, each of us will be experiencing this differently. We will each have a different perspective and the time it takes for us to process information will vary too. We are all beautifully flawed and unique humans so our reactions will be unique too.

But;

  • You are in charge of the lessons you learn through this and how you grow.
  • You can still make positive and empowered decisions
  • You still control where you direct your energy and attention

My positive decision is to sit tight, be here for my family, friends and clients. To that end I am offering;

  • Workshop refunds: All of my workshops will still run (and they are going to be such a treat after all of this) but dates are to be confirmed therefore if you’d prefer a refund please just let me know and I will sort that out as a priority.
  • Some Social interaction: Not loads, not on a schedule, but some as and when I can and it feels right.
