I am passionate about people and that is the driver behind everything that I have created or worked on over the years.
Post university I trained as a geography teacher and went on to teach in Essex and Tower Hamlets before moving into the third sector to support young people and families who were at risk of entering the care system.
From there I became a personal advisor to young people that were in, or had been through the care system and I progressed to manager in this service.
When I became a mum I wanted a job which worked around the needs of my family and, at the time it didn’t feel possible to manage a care leaving team with a high risk and emotionally intense workload on a part time basis.
I was fearful (perhaps incorrectly) that I would fall between two stools and let down both my children and those children that had spent their lives being let down by adults. I was determined not to do this so a change of direction was in order.
My need to understand what motherhood meant to me led me to write my first book; Time for Bed Baby which is a love story to mums and babes everywhere- It is about building a bond without losing yourself and my biggest hope is that every mother that reads it will recognise that they are good enough and they are not alone.
